Sharon Sweeting is the the NCAA Continuing Eligibility Specialist and Assistant Director of Academic Services for Student Athletes at Appalachian State University. She has been a part of the Academic Services for Student Athletes staff since 2011, and is beginning her 7th year in the role of Academic Advisor for Student Athletes. Sweeting currently advises Softball, Baseball, Volleyball, and Football.
Previously at Appalachian, Sweeting was an Instructor of Freshman English, Promotions Coordinator for the Office of Student Programs, Box Office and Front of House Manager for Farthing Auditorium (now Schaeffer Center), Marketing Director for the Office of Cultural Affairs, and Tutor Training Coordinator for University Tutorial Services. Outside of the university, Sweeting served as Chairperson of the Watauga County Relay For Life for the American Cancer Society for 11 years.
A native of Boone, Sweeting is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and English. She earned her Masters Degree from Appalachian in English.
Sweeting and her husband, Mike, reside in Vilas. She has 3 children, Tyler, Tara and Turner, as well as two step-daughters, Megan and Spencer, and a grandson, Dex.
