Brady Rourke

Brady Rourke begins his third year as the Executive Director, Student Learning Center at Appalachian State University.

At Appalachian, Rourke is responsible for administering the Student Learning Center. The Student Learning Center supports academic achievement of Appalachian students by providing services in academic strategy instruction, tutoring, and academic advising. Rourke serves as a liaison to the university’s academic community, office of the provost, student affairs, and enrollment management. Rourke serves on several university committees including admissions council, athletics council, global engagement council, student success team, university advising council, university conduct board, and university recruitment and transition team. Rourke also serves as athletic academic advisor for women’s volleyball student-athletes.

Rourke arrived at Appalachian after serving as Associate Athletic Director for Student Services at West Virginia University (2014-2016). Prior to WVU, Rourke served as Associate Director of student-athlete support services at Syracuse University (2013-2014). Prior to SU, Brady served as Academic Coordinator for football student-athletes at Penn State University (2007-2013), and Arizona State University (2006-2007).

At Penn State, Brady served as co-director of the Athletic Director’s Leadership Institute, managing the student-athlete leadership development program available to all 31-varsity sports. He served as faculty advisor to PRIDE, a student sportsmanship team at PSU and an instructor for the first-year seminar program, educating incoming student-athletes about balancing academics and athletics. At Penn State, Rourke earned a bachelor’s degree in rehabilitation services education in 2003 and a master’s degree in higher education administration in 2006.

Rourke currently serves on the National Association of Academic and Student-Athlete Development Professionals (N4A) Board of Directors and the NC State Employees Credit Union (SECU) Advisory Board. He is currently enrolled in the Doctoral Program in Educational Leadership at Appalachian.

Brady resides in Boone with his wife Amanda and three sons: Brennon, Easton, and Shane.
