Adam joined the ACCESS Scholarship Program in 2014. Currently, Adam serves as an advisor to ACCESS scholars from orientation through graduation, teaches a first year success course called ACCESS Seminar, and works to provide support and advocacy for all ACCESS students.
For five years prior to coming to Appalachian, Adam taught high school at Caldwell Early College High School, a National Blue Ribbon school in Hudson, North Carolina. During his time at CECHS, Adam taught history courses and seminar courses designed to promote student success.
A native of Wilkes County, NC, Adam is a two-time graduate of Appalachian State, obtaining his B.S. in History, Secondary Education in 2007 and his M.A. in History in 2009. During his time at Appalachian State, Adam worked with the Upward Bound program, serving as a tutor, counselor, and Graduate Assistant with the federally-funded program that serves low-income, first generation students. Adam is passionate about helping students succeed and making education affordable and available to all.
Outside of work, Adam enjoys spending time with his wife, Laurie, and his son, Sam.
